Karate Teacher Jailed For 10 Years Sexually Abusing 10-Year-Old Girl In Pune
Pune, 4th March 2023: A karate teacher in Pune has been sentenced to 10 years in prison and fined Rs 17,000 for sexually abusing a 10-year-old girl who was a student in his class. Asif Rafiq Nadaf, 31, was found guilty of abusing the girl in his home after luring her there with the promise of extra training. He threatened to harm her parents if she told anyone about the abuse.
The incident occurred in 2018 and was reported to the Kondhwa police station. Nadaf was charged under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The victim’s family became aware of the abuse after the girl became pregnant. The family then filed a complaint with the police, leading to Nadaf’s arrest and trial.
During the trial, the court heard that the girl did not confide in anyone about the abuse due to the ongoing fights between her parents. The court also noted that the girl was a minor at the time of the abuse, and her alleged consent was not a mitigating factor in the sentencing.
