Katraj-Kondhwa Road: PMC Sets Deadlines for Flyover by Dec 2026, Widening by March 2027
Pune, 29th September 2026: Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram on Tuesday inspected the ongoing Katraj-Kondhwa Road development project and the proposed flyover at Katraj Chowk, directing officials to expedite land acquisition and removal of utility obstructions.
During the inspection, traffic was diverted onto the completed service road near Rajas Society as part of the ongoing road development work.
Shruti Naik, Executive Engineer, National Highway Division, said the Katraj Chowk flyover is expected to be completed by the end of
December 2026.
The civic administration also reviewed the status of 10 properties required for the Katraj-Kondhwa Road project that were left out of the earlier land acquisition process. Deputy Commissioner of the Land Acquisition Department Nikhil More said joint measurements of the properties are currently underway.
Once the area of the properties is finalised, the PMC will seek consent from the concerned property owners and aims to make the required land available for the road project within one month.
Commissioner Ram directed officials to personally meet the concerned property owners and expedite the process. He also discussed the matter with the chairman of Chidanand Society regarding the availability of the land required for road development.
Meanwhile, most of the service road work has been completed. Officials also informed the Commissioner about electrical poles and a transformer obstructing the proposed grade separator work.
Ram directed Chief Engineer of the Electrical Department Shekatkar to ensure that the obstructing poles and transformer are removed immediately to facilitate construction of the grade separator.
The PMC has set a deadline of March 2027 for completing the 50-metre road widening work. Officials have also been instructed to undertake the necessary land acquisition process and make financial provisions for the proposed 84-metre road development.
The widening and development of the Katraj-Kondhwa Road to 84 metres has been targeted for completion by March 2028.
Officials from the PMC Road Department, Electrical Department, Land Acquisition Department, Special Land Acquisition Office and National Highway Division were present during the inspection.
