On Saturday morning, due to illegal construction in Swaroop Nagar, the KDA bulldozed the building. The three-storey building was sealed last year.
The building is said to be owned by Ishtiaq Ahmed. According to reports, one of the main accused in the Kanpur violence has links with Ishtiaq. This has not been confirmed yet.
KDA Officer Satrohan Vaish said, “Ishtiaq Ahmed had got the residential map passed on 130 square meters of land. Despite this, he got commercial production done. Last year the building was sealed by the KDA.”
Anand Prakash Tiwari, Joint Police Commissioner said, “The building was being constructed illegally. The investigation is going on regarding the connection of the building owner with Hayat.”
