Ken Zuckerman : Live in Concert on Tuesday
Pune, 12th December 2024: Renowned international Sarod maestro, Grammy-nominated Ken Zuckerman, will grace Pune with his soulful music and insightful conversation. This unique opportunity to experience his virtuosity and gain insights into his musical journey will be hosted by Rithwik Foundation for Performing Arts and the Department of Performing Arts, Modern College.
The concert, titled ‘Ken Zuckerman: Live in Concert’ is scheduled on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at 6 PM onwards. It will be held at the Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar Hall, Department of Performing Arts, Modern College, Shivajinagar, Pune. Ken Zuckerman, a disciple of the legendary Ustad Ali Akbar Khan, will be in conversation with Pune’s renowned sarod player, Anupam Joshi. Accompanying Zuckerman on the tabla will be Maheshraj Salunke. The event is open to all.
Zuckerman has been training in Sarod under the guidance of Ustad Ali Akbar Khan for 37 years. He has performed extensively with his Guru in India, Europe, and the United States. Known for his innovative approach, Zuckerman has created a unique structure that enhances the sound and quality of the Sarod and has also invented a self-tuning electronic tanpura named ‘Shanti’. For the past 39 years, he has been the director of the Ali Akbar College of Music in Switzerland, where he teaches North Indian classical music and medieval music.
Anupam Joshi, a disciple of Pandit Rajeev Taranath and Pandit Tejendra Narayan Majumdar, has also been guided by Ken Zuckerman. Joshi has created an instrument called Anumohini Veena, which is similar in sound to the Rudra Veena. The young Tabla player, Maheshraj Salunke, has trained under Pandit Umesh Moghe and Pandit Nayan Ghosh.
