Kerala: COVID Positive Woman Raped By Ambulance Driver On Way To Hospital

September 6, 2020: On Saturday night in Kerala’s Pathanamthitta district, a COVID-19 positive woman was raped by an ambulance driver on the way to the hospital informed police officials of the district.

 

Superintendent of Police KG Simon of the Pathanamthitta district said that the ambulance driver Noufal was taken into custody immediately. His arrest has been recorded.

The accused belongs to the Alappuzha district and was employed with the state health’s department in the “108 ambulance service”. The accused Noufal had also been booked in an attempt to murder case in 2019.

According to the SP, Noufal took the ambulance purposely in a deserted area and allegedly raped the woman. After he dropped her to the hospital, the woman narrated the whole incident to the staff members of the hospital who then immediately contacted the police.

The victim’s statement has been recorded by the police and she is being given additional counselling at the hospital where she is being treated for the novel Coronavirus infection.
