Pune, 7th May 2025: A collective spirit of environmental consciousness and civic responsibility echoed across Keshav Nagar as residents of Purva Silversands led a successful Tree Plantation Drive on Sunday, May 4. The initiative, held within the premises of the residential community, was not just an act of green commitment but also a platform for raising pressing local issues with elected leaders.

The event was graced by Hadapsar MLA Chetan Dada Tupe, who actively participated in the tree planting. The occasion carried personal significance as it coincided with the birthday of his son, Ishaan Tupe—making the plantation a symbolic gesture of growth, legacy, and environmental hope.

“This isn’t just about planting trees—it’s about nurturing roots of change in our community,” said MLA Tupe, while addressing the residents. “I commend the unity and awareness shown by the people of Keshav Nagar.”

Joining him at the event were several notable guests, including:
Devendra Dada Bhaat – Prominent social activist and Director, Pune Cantonment Sahakari Bank Ltd.
Mayur Dada Khalase – Government-Appointed Corporator
Dr. Shantanu Jagdale – President, Hadapsar Assembly, NCP
Santosh Pakhare – Former Gram Panchayat Member, Keshav Nagar
Ganesh Dhakane – Pradesh Sarchitnis, NCP

While the plantation drive was the highlight, residents seized the opportunity to bring to light several unaddressed civic concerns. These included the delayed bridge construction, erratic water supply, poor road conditions, absence of a garbage depot, and the lack of a dedicated garden and jogging track in the locality. Issues surrounding sanitation and waste management were also discussed.

Residents proposed a joint inspection involving the PMC Commissioner, senior municipal officials, and society representatives to ensure these concerns are assessed and addressed on-ground. MLA Tupe welcomed the suggestion, assuring his support and promising to organize a coordinated meeting with the new PMC Commissioner. “The voice of Keshav Nagar’s citizens will not go unheard. I will ensure a follow-up with the municipal leadership to define solutions with concrete timelines,” he assured.

A key contributor to the drive’s success was Devendra Bhau Bhaat, a respected grassroots leader whose sustained engagement with local housing societies has made him a bridge between citizens and the administration. His guidance was instrumental in mobilizing widespread support for the event.

Residents and committee members from nine major housing societies—Purva Silversands, Godrej Rejuve, Godrej Infinity, Gera Misty Waters, Mantra Insignia, Florida Riverwalk, Shubh Evan, Shubh Skypoint, and Oxford Florida Society—came together in large numbers to plant saplings and pledge their commitment to environmental stewardship.
