Ketan Agarwal Murder: Commentator’s Posts Supporting Prime Accused Siya Trigger Massive Backlash Online

Pune, 26th June 2026: The murder of Pune-based businessman Ketan Agarwal (25), which has already shocked the country, has taken a fresh, controversial turn after a self-described socio-political commentator came under fire over a series of social media posts that appeared to defend the prime accused and question the police investigation.

According to the police, Ketan Agarwal, son of builder Vishal Agarwal of Shubh Developers, was allegedly murdered by his fiancée, Siya Goyal (20), and her alleged boyfriend, Chetan Choudhary (22). Investigators claim the duo pushed Agarwal off Lohagad Fort and initially attempted to make the incident appear to be an accident before the alleged conspiracy was uncovered during the investigation. The case has triggered widespread public outrage, with many demanding the strictest possible punishment for the accused.

The latest controversy erupted after Priyanka Deshmukh, who describes herself on X as a “socio-political commentator” and a “radical Bahujan feminist,” posted a series of messages claiming that Siya Goyal was not a criminal but a victim of circumstances. Deshmukh alleged that Goyal had been forced into an arranged marriage by her family against her wishes and wanted to pursue higher education instead.

Deshmukh also questioned the police investigation, alleging that Agarwal’s death was an accident that had been portrayed as a murder. She further claimed that Goyal’s confession was obtained under police pressure. These allegations have not been substantiated by any official agency, and the Pune Police have not made any statement supporting these claims.

The controversy intensified after several of Deshmukh’s posts were widely shared on social media. In one post, she allegedly wrote that “this is what should have happened to Ketan Agarwal” and reportedly suggested that every arranged marriage should meet a similar fate. The remarks drew sharp criticism online, with many users accusing her of glorifying violence and displaying insensitivity towards the victim’s family.

The posts sparked widespread condemnation on social media, with users describing the remarks as offensive, irresponsible, and inflammatory.
