Pune Ketan Agarwal Murder: Fiancée Siya Goyal and Friend Accuse Each Other of Orchestrating Killing During Custodial Interrogation

Pune, 26th June 2026: The investigation into the alleged murder of 26-year-old realtor Ketan Agarwal has taken a fresh turn, with the two arrested accused — his fiancée Siya Goyal and her friend Chetan Chaudhary — accusing each other of plotting the killing during custodial interrogation. However, Pune Rural police said the evidence collected so far points to Goyal as the alleged mastermind behind the crime.

Agarwal was allegedly pushed into a gorge at Lohagad Fort on June 18. He and Goyal had got engaged in February and were scheduled to marry later this year.

According to police, Goyal told investigators that she had repeatedly informed Agarwal that she did not want to marry him, but he refused to call off the wedding. She has alleged that Chaudhary then came up with the plan to eliminate Agarwal. Chaudhary, however, has denied the allegation, claiming it was Goyal who insisted that Agarwal be killed.

“While both accused have made contradictory claims during questioning, the material gathered during the investigation indicates that Goyal orchestrated the conspiracy,” a senior Pune Rural police officer said.

Pune Rural Superintendent of Police Sandeep Singh Gill said Agarwal frequently visited Lohagad Fort for trekking. During the investigation, police found that Goyal had accompanied him to the fort on May 31 and allegedly identified a spot near the Vinchu Kata ridge where the murder was later executed.

Investigators have also recorded the statement of an employee at Chaudhary’s family-owned store. According to police, the employee told investigators that Chaudhary left his mobile phone at the shop on June 18 and borrowed the employee’s handset before leaving for Lohagad Fort.

Police have further relied on CCTV footage from a cafe in Pune, which allegedly shows Goyal and Chaudhary meeting between May 31 and June 4, as part of the evidence in the case.

As part of the probe, the Pune Rural police on Thursday took Goyal to Lohagad Fort to reconstruct the sequence of events surrounding the alleged murder.
