Know All About Laxman Narasimhan, New CEO Of Starbucks And About His Connection With Pune

Pune, 2nd September 2022: Laxman Narasimhan, the new CEO of Starbucks, is a seasoned member of the consumer goods sector with roots in Pune, India.

On October 1, Narasimhan (55) will succeed Howard Schultz and join the multinational coffee company, despite difficulties like dwindling sales and opposition from unions.

 

Narasimhan attended the University of Pune’s College of Engineering and has previously held executive positions with the Reckitt Benckiser Group and PepsiCo. He travelled to the US to attend the Wharton business school at the University of Pennsylvania after completing his engineering programme.

 

From 1993 through 2012, he was employed by the renowned management consulting firm McKinsey, rising to the position of director and location manager of the Delhi office.

 

In 2012, Narasimhan joined the world’s largest beverage company, PepsiCo, where he later attained the position of the chief commercial officer. He also held the position of president and CEO of PepsiCo Latin America.

He was appointed CEO of the consumer goods business Reckitt Benckiser in 2019.

The business gave the executive credit for reviving its “strategy, execution, and basic competencies.”

 

In the public sector, Narasimhan has also been in charge of programmes, particularly in the fields of education and skill development. He is a fellow of the Brookings Institution and the American Foreign Policy Association, both think tanks.

 

According to critics, the executive possesses “excellent strategic acumen and customer intelligence.”

His former employer Reckitt Benckiser has praised him for having “a solid track record in establishing purpose-led brands and driving consumer-centric and digital innovation.” He has previously managed intricate operational businesses and motivated teams in developed and emerging countries to deliver performance that leads the market.
