Pune, December 25, 2020: The forest department has erected notices on two information hoardings inside the NIBM reserve forest on survey no. 45 warning that pets including dogs and trained animals were banned inside the forest under the Reserve Forest Act 2014.

The pets were banned after citizens complained that unchained dogs were biting citizens and kids including senior citizens were in fear of the unchained dogs charging at them in open forests. One notice has been put at the main forest entrance and another one near Gaibi Peer Dargah exit gate.

Residents have demanded unrestricted access to the forest claiming it was their fundamental right and cannot be denied.
