Kothrud: FIR against foreign return woman for going home instead of hotel quarantine

Pune, July 2, 2020: A case has been registered at Kothrud police station, Pune city police, against a woman who refused hotel quarantine after returning from abroad. As per the rules, the concerned woman was asked to be quarantined in the hotel. But she went straight to her home in Kothrud.

As per the complaint lodged by Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), the woman is a resident of Alkapuri society, Paud road, in Kothrud. She had arrived at Mumbai airport from Muscat on June 30. She was informed that she should be quarantined in the nearest hotel approved by the government, otherwise legal action will be taken.

“She was sent all the rules regarding quarantine of Maharashtra government for Indian nationals who came from abroad. Still, she went home in Kothrud. A case has been registered against her for violating the government order”, a PMC officer said.

Police said that she has been charged for offences under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, Disaster Management Act and Epidemic Diseases Act.
