Pune, 19th March 2025: The Pune district administration has initiated land surveying to expedite the Inner Ring Road project under the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA). With the survey process now underway, landowners have begun granting consent for land acquisition.

As part of this effort, the district administration conducted a survey of 16.5 hectares in Wadachiwadi on Tuesday. The next phase of the survey is scheduled for Wednesday (March 19) in Ambegaon Khurd village.

To ease traffic congestion in and around Pune, PMRDA has prioritized the construction of two ring roads. The Outer Ring Road project has been assigned to the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC), while the Inner Ring Road, spanning 83 kilometers with an estimated cost of ₹14,200 crore, will be developed by PMRDA.

PMRDA has proposed acquiring 115 hectares of land across 13 villages for the Inner Ring Road project. A recent meeting on the matter led to the commencement of land measurement in various villages. To facilitate land acquisition, PMRDA has allocated ₹113 crore to the District Collector’s Office, with 30% of the amount already deposited for the first phase.

In total, 743.41 hectares of land across 44 villages in Khed, Haveli, Mulshi, and Maval talukas will be required for the project. The Inner Ring Road will connect Pune-Satara Road with Nagar Road and will include 42 roads, 17 bridges, and 10 tunnels. Additionally, a five-meter-wide corridor has been reserved for a future metro line.

The land acquisition proposal covers villages such as Wadachiwadi, Bhilarewadi, Pisoli, Yewalewadi, Mangdewadi, Gujar-Nimbalkarwadi, Jambhulwadi, Ambegaon Khurd, Nigrudi, Kadamwakvasti, Solu, and Vadgaon Shinde.

Deputy Collector of the Land Acquisition Department, Kalyan Pandhare, confirmed the progress, stating, “The land measurement process for the ring road has begun. On Tuesday, 16.5 hectares in Wadachiwadi were surveyed, and the next phase will take place in Ambegaon Khurd.”

The land acquisition process is expected to accelerate in the coming weeks as the district administration continues its efforts to secure the required land for this crucial infrastructure project.
