Latest ITMS To Be Installed On Old Mumbai-Pune Highway For Traffic Discipline: Fadnavis

Mumbai, 24th March 2023: Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced on Wednesday that strict measures will be imposed to reduce accidents on the old Mumbai-Pune National Highway. Fadnavis informed the Legislative Council that the latest intelligent traffic management system (ITMS) will be installed to regulate traffic, and legal action will be taken against drivers who violate traffic rules to ensure traffic discipline. The missing link will also be completed to ensure smooth traffic flow.

In response to a pointed question raised by member Bhai Jagtap regarding measures to reduce accidents on the old Mumbai-Pune National Highway, Fadnavis said that the state-of-the-art ITMS system will be used to take action against those who do not follow lane discipline. Traffic police will also take strict action against violators. Additionally, the updated mobile number of all motorists will be collected to inform them about fines and collect them promptly.

Following this, members including Bhai Jagtap, Aniket Tatkare, Mahadev Jankar, and Satej Patil raised sub-questions in pursuit of more information. The installation of ITMs system is expected to greatly enhance traffic discipline and reduce accidents on the busy national highway.
