Lavasa gets highest 107 mm rainfall in last 24 hours, Pune city braces for moderate to heavy rainfall

Pune, 28th June 2023: Heavy rainfall is expected to continue in the ghat areas of Pune, Nashik, and Satara until June 30, posing potential dangers for travelers. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has cautioned against driving through these treacherous zones during the Pune-Mumbai journey.

Over the past 24 hours, Lavasa has recorded 107 mm of rainfall, while Nimgiri has seen 35.5 mm, Lonavala 35 mm, Lohegaon 24 mm, Pashan 16.5 mm, Shivajinagar 15 mm, Vadgaonsheri 14 mm, Chinchwad 10 mm Hadapsar 10 mm, and Talegaon 10 mm, according to the Meteorological Department.

A yellow alert has been issued for Pune city over the next two days, as moderate to heavy rainfall is expected, increasing the risk of road flooding. It is strongly advised to avoid traveling to nearby ghat areas during this period. Alongside heavy rainfall, gusty winds with speeds of 30 to 35 km per hour are predicted, which may result in tree uprooting. Citizens are urged to exercise caution and remain vigilant, as per the warning issued by the weather department.
