LIC of India Offers Support and Concessions to Victims of Pahalgam Terror Attack

Mumbai, 25th April 2025: The Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) of India has expressed profound grief over the tragic loss of innocent lives in the terrorist attack that took place in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir on April 22, 2025. In a move aimed at providing swift financial support to the families affected, LIC has announced a series of compassionate measures to ease the claims process for policyholders who lost their lives in the incident.
LIC Chairman and Managing Director Siddhartha Mohanty stated that the organization stands firmly with the victims and their families during this difficult time. “LIC is committed to supporting those affected. We will ensure that claim settlements are expedited to provide immediate financial relief,” he said.
To mitigate procedural challenges, LIC has relaxed documentation norms for death claim settlements. In place of a formal death certificate, any valid Government record confirming the death of the policyholder in the terrorist attack, or proof of compensation provided by the Central or State Government, will be accepted as sufficient evidence of death.
The insurer emphasized that every effort will be made to proactively reach out to the families of deceased policyholders and settle claims without delay.
Claimants can visit the nearest LIC Branch Office, Divisional Office, or Customer Zone for assistance. LIC has also set up a dedicated helpline for additional support, which can be reached at 022-68276827.
