Pune, 4th October 2022: Lila Poonawalla (recipient of the Padma Shri Award) has been recognized and honored with the Prestigious ‘Mahatma Lifetime Achievement Award’ in New Delhi recently.

 

The Mahatma Award recognizes and celebrates impact leaders and change-makers across the globe, who are making a social impact and leading the way to a sustainable future. Since its inception, the award continues to honor the most accomplished sustainable, responsible, social efforts and initiatives within the private, public, and development sectors. The initiatives range from sustainability to philanthropy to shared value to social impact to corporate social responsibility.

 

The Mahatma Award was founded and constituted by Amit Sachdeva, more famously known as ‘The CSR Man of India’.

 

Lila Poonawalla, Chairperson of Lila Poonawalla Foundation (LPF) has made an enormous contribution in the professional education of underprivileged girls and fostering them through the LPF Scholarships. LPF, a non-profit Public Charitable Trust in India, instituted in the year 1995 by Lila Poonawalla and Firoz Poonawalla (Founder Trustee, LPF). A FCRA-registered Organization and accredited by the Credibility Alliance.

 

The foundation contributes to the empowerment of Indian women by offering Merit-cum-Need based Scholarships to academically outstanding and financially challenged girls, through Grant Scholarship to pursue higher education and through building essential, invest in personal & professional Skill Building programs. functional/technical, professional and employability skills to seek respectable employment.

 

Over 12,000+ girls have been supported by LPF. Every year more than 1000 girls are given the scholarships. The Foundation gives scholarships to School girls up to their graduation.
