Lockdown: 3.18 lakhs people apply for the pass from Pune Police, cases against 6 for false information

Pune, April 9, 2020: A lockdown is underway across the country to prevent the spread of Coronavirus outbreak and there is a restriction on vehicle movement.

However, due to some urgency, people need to use a vehicle. Hence, a centralised Digital pass system has been implemented in Pune city from 28th March by Pune City Police. Till April 9 (today as per latest information), a total of 3.18 lakh people requested for vehicle movement passes (digital passes/QR Code) through www.punepolice.in

DCP (crime) Bachchan Singh, who is coordinating the digital pass system work, said, “Out of 3.18 lakh requests we have approved 1.63 lakhs of which 1.07 lakhs are already exempted as per govt orders; 47,000 are those having medical conditions and need urgent care. The other passes facilitated on priority include 1598 for Cancer, ICU- 1164, surgery – 1043, dialysis- 993, diabetic – 411, pregnant – 2691, infant / child- 619.”

“Also, while running through data it was observed that some 917 Aadhar entries were wrong. SMS were sent to all of the above requesting for resubmission of corrected information or legal action will be taken. On checking resubmitted information, some doubtful entries were given to Police Inspector Mahendra Jagtap of Crime Branch Unit 2 to verify physically”, said DCP Singh.

“After verification, six non-cognisable offence (NC) was registered against people who had given the wrong information and their explanation were not reasonable. Citizens are requested to cooperate with the police. Requests which are urgent are cleared on priority”, he further informed.
