Lockdown In Maharashtra If Situation Does Not Improve In 2-3 Days: CM Uddhav Thackeray

Pune, 2 April 2021: Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray today addressed the state through social media and said that strict lockdown will be declared in the state if the situation does not improve in the next 2-3 days. He also said that the state aims vaccinate 7 lakh people in a day in the next few days.

A total of 47,827 new Corona cases were reported in Maharashtra, while 202 persons died. 24,126 patients got discharged today. Currently, 21,01,999 people are in home quarantine and 19,237 people are in institutional quarantine.

CM Thackeray said, “We are conducting meetings with experts and trying to find alternative options for lockdown but if any alternative option is not available then the strict lockdown will be imposed in Maharashtra.”

He informed that Maharashtra had a capacity of conducting 75,000 tests which have increased to 1,82,000 tests daily and will be increased to 2.5 lakh soon. And the tests are RT PCR tests, not rapid antigen tests.

“We are planning to increase vaccination up to 7 lakhs daily. Yesterday a total of 3 lakh people were vaccinated in Maharashtra. But after taking the vaccine it doesn’t mean the person is safe, the person should take care otherwise he/she may get infected. So everyone should wear a mask, follow social distancing,” appealed Thackeray.
