Lonavala: Former Shiv Sena City President Shot Dead By Unidentified Assailants

Lonavala, October 26. 2020: In a broad daylight crime, a former Shiv Sena president of Lonavala city was shot dead by two unidentified assailants today in Lonavala. The deceased has been identified as Rahul Umesh Shetty.

According to Pune rural police, the incident took place around 10 am near Jaychand Chowk. Shetty was having tea in a hotel near his house. The two assailants reached there and fired three rounds at Shetty who died on the spot.

The officials from Lonavala city police station and the Local Crime Branch (LCB) have begun an investigation to identify and nab the killers. Police said that the murder could be the fallout of past enmity as Shetty had crossed paths with many people in Lonavala.

Last night, another person was killed near Hanuman Tekdi. Police have identified the deceased Ganesh Naidu. He was killed with an axe around 9.30 pm on Sunday. Police said that Naidu used to harass people in the area. One person has been detained in connection with Naidu’s murder.

Police are also probing if there is any link between the two murders.
