Lonavala: Police Raids Kumar Resort, 74 Persons Including 60 Businessmen Arrested For Gambling

Lonavala, September 8, 2020: Pune Rural Police raided Kumar Resort located in the main chowk near the Lonavla highway at midnight on Monday and arrested 60 people for gambling. The arrested persons include 12 young women who worked as servers.

Lonavla Sub-Divisional Police Officer Navneet Kanwat took this action. Among those arrested are businessmen from Mumbai and Gujarat. Police had recovered Rs three lakh cash and gambling chips with a face value of Rs 40 lakh.

Police have registered a case against the resort director Dheeraj Kumar Ailani and manager Anwar Sheikh. They have been charged for offences under relevant sections of the Maharashtra Gambling Act and Epidemic Diseases Act. All the accused persons were released on bail by a judicial magistrate court.
