Lonavala traffic jam: Weekend getaway turns into nightmare for commuters
Lonavala: The Good Friday holiday added to the weekend holidays has caused a huge traffic jam on the Mumbai Pune Expressway today. The influx of a large number of tourists from Mumbai area in private vehicles caused a traffic jam at Khalapur toll plaza and Khandala Ghat area.
To solve the problem, the highway police took a traffic block on the Pune-Mumbai route in the Adoshi tunnel to Khandala tunnel area since 11:30 am. However, the jam continued till afternoon due to the large number of vehicles. Khandala and Borghat highway police were trying all day to solve the problem, but the slow speed of traffic in the ghat area persisted.
