Pune: Loyola, Vidya Valley, Vidya Bhavan enter last-4

Pune, 21 December 2022: Hosts Loyola HS, Vidya Valley, Vidya Bhavan made most of the day to enter the semifinals of their respective age group sections in the Loyola Football Cup powered by Tata Autocomp at the Loyola H.S ground, Pashan here on Wednesday

The tournament, organised by the Ex Loyola Students Network (ELAN) had Vidya Bhavan advance in the Under-12 section along with hosts Loyola HS, while Vidya Valley won an eight-goal thriller against Vidya Bhavan in the Under-16 section.

In the Under-12 section, Loyola H.S pushed aside the challenge of The Kalyani H.S 2-0. Adiraj Singh (20+3) gave the hosts a 1-0 lead, while Tanush Khune (35th) closed out the win with another strike.

Later, Vidya Bhavan fought off the challenge of Vidya Valley 4-2. The winners got off to a quick start scoring three goals in the opening seven-minutes via a brace from Arnav Bhosale (2nd, 7th) and Jonathan Salve (4th) to take a 3-0 lead. Vidya Valley pulled one-back when Rian Khogekar (9th) netted to make it 3-1.

Vidya Bhavan closed out with Aditya J (18th) making it 4-1, before Pratyush Vashistha (22nd) helped Vidya Valley end the day with a 4-2 scoreline.

In the Under-16 section, Vidya Valley put aside Vidya Bhavan 5-3. A brace by Siddhant Jadhav (13th, 25th) and Arush Kavishwar (40th, 57th) and lone goal by Sidharth Sankholkar (38th) helped Vidya Valley’s scoreline, while Vidya Bhavan had Aditya Dhumal (30th), Ankit Gaware (36th) and Aaron Mendes (43rd) score.
