Madhura Jasraj unfolds the musical journey of vocalist Pandit Jasraj

Pune, December 10: The musical voyage of veteran vocalist Pandit Jasraj, a renowned name of Indian Classical Music got unfolded by his wife, Madhura Jasraj during ‘Antaranga’, a special interactive session of 63rd Sawai Gandharva Bhimsen Mahotsav. Madhura Jasraj was interacting with Shrinivas Joshi, Executive President of Arya Sangeet Prasarak Mandal (ASPM) and Rao Rohit Singh, a close family friend of Pt. Jasraj.
This journey of unveiling exclusive episodes from the life of Pandit Jasraj, began with showing a biographical short film on the music maestro Pandit Jasraj. Titled as, ‘Sangeet Martand Jasraj’, this short film is directed by Madhura Jasraj. The screening of this film held during ‘Shadja’, a short film festival of 63rd Sawai Gandharva Bhimsen Mahotsav.
Madhura Jasraj mentioned that Pandit Jasraj has immense knowledge of Indian Classical music and a strong hold on literature as well. Apart from having a wonderful personality and fame, Pandit Jasraj follows daily rigorous riyaz of almost 17 to 18 hours in a day.
Speaking on the occasion, Madhura Jasraj said, “It is not easy to recognize the artistic personality of any artist or performer, one can better understand it with the medium of art only. Being wife of a veteran vocalist, Pandit Jasraj and daughter of renowned filmmaker V Shantaram, it was obvious for me to have in-depth knowledge of art and I have seen their zeal for music and art.” She also mentioned, “I have not only witnessed the musical journey of Pandit Jasraj but have lived it with him. He has majorly followed Ustad Amir Khan Saheb, Gulam Ali Khan and Omkar Nath Thakur.”
Madhura Jasraj said, “Pandit Jasraj is trying hard to inculcate the Indian classical music and art in young budding artists.”
Addressing the media, she requested that there is strong need for music reviewers and critics which will help in giving correct direction to the budding artists.
