Pune, 7th October 2026: The Mahajyoti and Vanarti examination for free coaching and scholarships for the MPSC Combined Group B and C preliminary exam was marred by allegations o mismanagement and irregularities at centres across Maharashtra on Wednesday.

Amid the chaos, the authorities cancelled the examination at Sun Bright English Medium School in Pune and Marathwada Online Exam Centre in Nanded. A re-examination for affected students will be held on October 10, Mahajyoti said.

Students alleged that at some centres, four to five candidates were made to sit before a single computer, while others were allegedly allowed to discuss answers during the exam. Several students were also reportedly denied entry despite being asked to report at 9am due to inadequate seating and computer facilities.

A student who was denied entry at a centre in Pune said 38 female candidates were turned away after being told that computers were unavailable. “We have travelled from far-off places after spending money. If the centre lacked capacity, why were so many students assigned there?” she said.

Mahajyoti managing director Milind Naringe said the exam was conducted at 64 centres and the Pune centre was cancelled due to a technical login issue. He denied allegations of a paper leak or malpractice and said CCTV footage from all classrooms would be examined. Strict action would be taken against centres and invigilators found responsible, he said.

NCP MLA Rohit Pawar criticised the administration, alleging that five students were made to take the exam on a single computer and several candidates were denied entry despite reaching on time. He demanded accountability for the mismanagement.
