MahaMetro To Survey Four New Routes For Expansion Of Pune Metro Network

Pune, 9th December 2021: MahaMetro has asked the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) to permit a survey of four new routes to expand the Pune Metro network in the district.
The MahaMetro is preparing to expand its metro network in Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad cities and PMRDA area. Currently, MahaMetro is working on three routes including Pimpri-Chinchwad to Swargate, Vanaz to Ramwadi and Hinjawadi to Shivajinagar.
Four new metro projects have been recommended in Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad. This includes routes like Swargate to Khadakwasla via Narveer Tanaji Malusare Road (Sinhagad Road), Warje to Swargate, Wagholi to Pawar Vasti (Hinjawadi) and Chandni Chowk to Hinjawadi.
For this, MahaMetro has requested information about the routes in the overall transport plan prepared by PMRDA. Based on this information, a decision will be taken after surveying the proposed routes. PMRDA undertook the preparation of the Comprehensive Transport Plan (CMP) covering an area of about 7,200 sq km by L&T Company. These include metro, monorail, light rail, BRT, flyover, grade separator, upgrade of the new bus railway station, development of new roads etc at an estimated cost of Rs 54,601 crores.
