Maharashtra: 3007 new Corona cases today, 1924 discharged

Mumbai, June 7, 2020: A total of 1924 patients were discharged while 3007 new Covid-19 cases were reported in Maharashtra today. 91 people died due to the deadly virus today. The current count of COVID19 patients in the state of Maharashtra is 85975, informed State Health Minister Rajesh Tope.

According to the health department, the total number of COVID patients in the state has reached 85,975 out of which 39,314 patients have been while 3060 people have died. As on today, there are 43,591 active cases in the state. The recovery rate in the state is 45.72% while the fatality rate in the state is 3.55%. Currently, 5,58,463 people are in home quarantine. There are 77,654 beds available in quarantine institutions and 28,504 people are in institutional quarantine currently.

Out of the 91 deaths today, 64 were men and 27 women. 46 of them aged over 60 years, 41 were from the age group 40 to 59 years and 4 were aged less than 40 years. 67 out of 91 patients (73.6%) had high-risk co-morbidities such as diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, etc. Death toll in Covid-19 patients has now gone up to 3060 in the state. Out of the total deaths reported today, 31 deaths occurred in the last two days and the rest are from the period 13th April to 4 rd June 2020. Out of the 60 deaths in this period, 44 were recorded in Mumbai, 5 in Ulhasnagar, 4 in Mira-Bhayandar, 4 in Solapur, 1 in Nashik, 1 in Palghar, and 1 of a West Bengal resident.

Out of 5,51,647 laboratory samples, 85,975 have been tested positive (15.58%) for COVID-19 until today. As per the guidance from the Government of India, cluster containment action plan is being implemented in places where clusters of patients have been found in the state. There are 3654 active containment zones in the state currently. Total 18,515 surveillance squads worked today across the state and surveillance of 69.60 lakh population was done.
