Maharashtra: 44,388 New Covid-19 Cases, 207 Omicron Patients Reported Today

Mumbai, 9th January 2022: 44,388 new Covid-19 positive cases reported today while 15,351 patients cured and discharged today, 65,72,432 COVID-19 patients discharged after full recovery until today. The Recovery rate in the state is 94.98%. 12 COVID-19 deaths reported in the state today. Case fatality rate is the state is 2.04%.

Out of 7,05,45,105 laboratory samples 69,20,044 have been tested positive (9.8%) for COVID-19 until today.

Currently 10,76,996 people are in home quarantine and 2614 people are in institutional quarantine.

Omicron surveillance related information:-

Today, 207 patients with Omicron infection have been reported in the state. Of these, 155 have been reported by B J medical College and 52 have been reported by National Institute of Virology.

Till date, a total of 1216 patients infected with Omicron variant have been reported in the state. Out of these, 454 cases have been discharged following a negative RT PCR test.

Additionally, field surveillance of all international passengers who have arrived since 1st November is underway. Through airport and field surveillance, 3868 samples have been sent for genomic sequencing. Results of 97 are awaited so far.
