Pune, 17th January 2025: The deadline for submitting applications for admission under the Right to Education (RTE) Act for the academic year 2025-26 is fast approaching, with the final date set for January 27, 2025. Parents wishing to apply can complete the process online, as per an official notification from the Primary Education Directorate.

The RTE Act mandates that 25% of seats in entry-level classes across schools be reserved for children from disadvantaged backgrounds. Parents can choose up to 10 schools within a 1-3 km radius of their residence and are required to submit accurate documentation with their application.

Special provisions are in place for children with disabilities. Parents of applicants with disabilities must provide a valid disability certificate confirming at least 40% disability. For any concerns related to the date of birth of children with special needs, parents can reach out via email at [email protected] or [email protected].

Officials have also issued a warning that any duplicate applications or incorrect information will lead to disqualification at any stage of the admission process. As of Thursday evening, 37,602 applications had already been submitted via the official portal.

Sharad Gosavi, Director of Primary Education, urged parents to complete the application process on time. “It is crucial to follow the instructions carefully. Parents must use the correct date from the child’s birth certificate, as this cannot be changed later in the process,” Gosavi emphasized.

Additionally, LPG gas books are no longer accepted as valid proof of residence. Only nationalized bank passbooks will be considered. Parents can submit rental agreements if they are registered before initiating the admission process. Aadhaar details can also be provided as part of the documentation.
