Pune: Anti-Narcotics Cell Arrests Man with 110 Grams of Mephedrone, Worth Rs 22 Lakh

Yerwada, 17th January 2025: The Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) of the Pune Police has arrested a 45-year-old man from Laxminagar, Yerawada, after recovering 110 grams of mephedrone (MD) worth ₹22 lakh from his possession. The arrest was made on Wednesday following a tip-off regarding his activities in the area.
The accused, identified as Ahmed Wahid Khan, was apprehended by a team led by Inspector Sudarshan Gaikwad and Assistant Inspector Nitinkumar Naik. During a search, the police found the drugs hidden in his possession.
Inspector Gaikwad shared, “Khan was arrested based on credible information about his involvement in drug trafficking. Upon frisking him, we discovered the mephedrone hidden on him. We are now investigating the source of the drugs and are searching for another individual who supplied them to Khan.”
Further investigations have revealed that Khan had previously worked as a driver in Qatar and had relocated to Pune, where he currently resides with his mother. “Khan quit his job in Qatar and moved back to Pune. He does not have any prior criminal records, and we are working to determine the reasons behind his involvement in the drug trade,” Gaikwad added.
The police have also identified another suspect, who has a criminal background, mainly involving house burglaries. “The second suspect, whom we are now targeting, has a history of house burglary crimes. We believe he may now be involved in drug dealing,” Gaikwad said.
