Maharashtra: Central Railway to Run 15 Special Trains for Mahaparinirvan Divas

Mumbai, 29th November 2025: Central Railway will operate 15 unreserved special trains between December 4 and December 8 to facilitate travel for thousands of followers heading to Mumbai to pay tribute to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar on Mahaparinirvan Divas.

These additional services will run on key routes including Nagpur, Kalaburagi, Amravati, and Kolhapur to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT), Mumbai. The special arrangements aim to manage the expected surge in passengers during the annual observance at Chaitya Bhoomi in Dadar.

Nagpur–Mumbai Route: 4 Services

Special trains will run from Nagpur to CSMT on December 4 and 5.
Halts include Ajni, Wardha, Badnera, Akola, Bhusaval, Nashik Road, Kalyan and Dadar among others.

Mumbai–Nagpur Route: 4 Services

Return services will operate on December 6, 7 and 8 from CSMT to Nagpur.

Dadar–Nagpur Route: 1 Service

One additional service will depart from Dadar on December 7.
All Mumbai–Nagpur special trains will consist of 18 ICF coaches including sleeper and second seating.

Kalaburagi–CSMT Route: 2 Services

A special train will depart from Kalaburagi on December 5 and return from CSMT on December 7.
Halts include Solapur, Pune, and Kalyan.

Amravati–CSMT Route: 2 Services

One train will run from Amravati on December 5 and return from Mumbai on December 7.

Kolhapur–CSMT Route: 2 Services

Special trains will operate from Kolhapur on December 5 and back from CSMT on December 6.
Halts include Pune, Miraj, Sangli, Karad, Satara and Thane.

Passengers can book unreserved tickets through the UTS app at normal fares. Central Railway has assured necessary arrangements and passenger guidance measures at all stations.

The initiative is part of Central Railway’s annual plan to support large-scale travel during Mahaparinirvan Divas on December 6, which marks the death anniversary of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar.
