Maharashtra: Constable of RPF in Solapur Sentenced to Five Years in Corruption Case

Solapur, 17th January 2024: Ganesh Satpute, a Constable of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) stationed in Kurduwadi, Solapur, has been sentenced to five years of rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of Rs. 4,500 by the Special Judge handling corruption cases in Solapur.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) initiated the case against Satpute on April 29, 2013. The allegations involved Satpute accepting Rs. 10,000 from an employee of a Tour & Travel company. Additionally, it was claimed that the accused demanded and received a bribe of Rs. 100 per passenger per day on railway tickets booked by the said company.

Following a thorough investigation, a chargesheet was filed against the accused on August 6, 2023. Subsequently, the Trial Court conducted proceedings and found Satpute guilty, leading to his conviction.

The verdict includes five years of rigorous imprisonment and a monetary penalty of Rs. 4,500.
