Maharashtra Cyber Crime Detection Rate Rises to 25% by End of 2024

Mumbai, 5th March 2025: The percentage of cyber crimes solved by law enforcement authorities increased to 25% by the end of December 2024, compared to 22% in November. According to official data, 753 cyber crime cases were detected, leading to the arrest of 748 accused individuals. In cases related to online fraud, 613 crimes were solved, and 683 accused were apprehended, with a crime-solving rate of 19%.

Police have urged citizens to promptly report cyber crimes by contacting local police stations, cyber police stations, the central government’s cyber crime complaint portal, or the helpline number 1930. Immediate reporting is encouraged to aid in quicker resolution of cases.

To enhance their ability to solve cyber crimes, officers in the cyber department are receiving updated technical investigation training regularly. Public awareness campaigns have also been intensified to educate citizens about cyber security measures. Information sessions are being conducted at corner meetings, society gatherings, senior citizens’ clubs, slums, and educational institutions.

Authorities are warning people to stay vigilant against fraudulent apps and avoid accepting friend requests from unknown individuals on social media. As part of these efforts, the police have been sharing informative videos and posts under the hashtag #Thodasasochale on Instagram, Twitter, WhatsApp, and YouTube.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, Cyber Crime Branch, stated that these initiatives aim to curb the rising trend of cyber crimes and improve the crime-solving rate further.
