Mumbai, 20th January 2025: The ongoing online application process for entrance examinations of various professional courses in Maharashtra has garnered an overwhelming response, with 3,81,801 students completing registrations by paying the required fee. Among these, the Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (MHT CET) for engineering courses has attracted the highest number of applicants.

The State Common Entrance Examination Cell began accepting applications for professional courses on December 25, 2024, to streamline the admission process. As of now, a total of 5,22,955 students have registered for various courses, out of which 1,41,154 students are still in the process of completing their applications.

Key Registration Figures

    • MHT CET (Engineering):Total registrations: 2,46,247
    • PCB group: 89,804 registrations
    • PCM group: 1,56,667 registrations
  • MBA/MMS: 44,630 applications
  • B.Ed: 30,026 applications
  • Three-Year Law Course: 22,963 applications

Low Response for Certain Courses

Some courses, such as M.HMCT (Hotel Management and Catering Technology), received only 36 applications, while Fine Art courses, BA-B.Sc-B.Ed, and B.Design programs also reported fewer than 400 registrations.

Concerns for BCA, BBA, and BMS Courses

Registration for BCA, BBA, and BMS courses, which opened on January 2, has seen limited interest, with only 7,928 applications received so far. Last year, these courses faced challenges due to limited awareness, resulting in only 38,000 out of 86,000 test-takers securing admission. With 1,08,000 seats available statewide for these programs, the low registration has prompted efforts to boost participation.
