Pune: 10th Standard Boy Feared Drowned in Pawana River at Ravet, Search Underway

Ravet, 20th January 2025: A distressing incident occurred at Malekar Ghat in Ravet Gaonthan, Pimpri Chinchwad, as three 10th-standard boys went for a swim in the Pawana River around 4:30 PM today. One of the minors is feared to have drowned, prompting an extensive search operation by local authorities.

Senior Police Inspector Nitin Phatangare of Ravet Police Station, which falls under the Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate (PCPC), provided details to Punekar News. According to Phatangare, the police received a call about the incident at approximately 5 PM. He noted that the location where the boys were swimming is a secluded area not typically used for such activities.

The search operation is currently in progress, with multiple agencies involved, including the Pimpri Chinchwad Fire Brigade, police authorities, and professional divers. The parents of the missing boy are also at the scene, desperately assisting in the search efforts.

Authorities continue to urge the public, especially young people, to exercise caution near water bodies and to adhere to safety guidelines to prevent such incidents.
