Maharashtra Government Approves Survey Of Six More Metro Routes In Pune

Pune, 11th September 2021: The Maharashtra State Government has approved a survey to expand the Pune Metro to six other routes in the city.

At present MahaMetro is constructing two routes – Vanaz to Ramwadi and Nigdi to Shivajinagar, while Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) is constructing Hinjawadi to Shivajinagar route.

People have demanded to extend the metro line starting from Vanaz till Chandni Chowk. There is also a demand to take the metro route from Ramwadi to Wagholi. The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has suggested four routes, Ramwadi to Lohegaon Airport, Pune Station to Katraj, Katraj to Shivane and Vanaz to Chandni Chowk. People’s representatives had suggested eight routes.

MahaMetro had sent a proposal to the state government to survey six routes. In the meeting of the Infrastructure Project Review Committee held in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, it was decided to survey six routes. It was also approved by the Urban Development Department.
