Maharashtra Government Modifies Lockdown Order; Allows Malls, Shops, Gym To Open Till 10 PM

Mumbai, 11th August 2021: An important meeting of the Maharashtra state cabinet was held today. A number of important decisions have been taken in this meeting. Health Minister Rajesh Tope has informed about this in a press conference.

Accordingly, from August 15, hotels, restaurants, shops and malls across the state will be allowed to continue till 10 pm. However, only those who have taken two doses of the corona vaccine will be allowed to enter the mall. Religious places and cinemas will remain closed till further orders.

Tope said the proposal had gone to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray through the health department in which the Chief Minister has given approval for reducing the restrictions.

Most importantly, people can travel in local trains after the second dose. The Railways has been instructed to issue monthly and quarterly passes to those who have a double dose certificate. Those who do not follow the rules can be fined up to Rs 500 and face legal action.

The state government has issued the following order which will be implemented by the local district administration/municipality in their respective jurisdictions:

Restaurants allow dining with 50 per cent of their capacity

Weddings that take place in an open courtyard or lawn with a maximum of 200 persons or 50% of the seating capacity

Private offices can be open 24 hours a day

All shops in state allowed to open till 10 pm

Cinemas and multiplexes, theaters are not allowed to start immediately till further orders

Religious places will also remain closed till further order

If the players in indoor sports and their staff and management have also completed two doses of vaccination, then all the sports like badminton, table tennis etc. are allowed in any indoor sports facility

Shopping malls will open till 10 pm on all days. However, only those people will be allowed entry who have taken two doses of the vaccine
