Maharashtra govt cancels Dinner, At-home program on Independence Day

Mumbai, Aug 13, 2019 : In view of the severe and unprecedented flood situation in some districts of the state and the loss of live in this natural calamity, Chief Minister Devendra Fadanvis has cancelled the courtesy dinner for Foreign Consulate Generals on the eve of Independence Day and the At-home program organised on the evening of Independence Day.

Every year, the dinner is organised for the foreign consulate generals and some other dignitaries on the eve of Independence Day and on the evening of Independence Day prominent citizens of Mumbai are invited for At-home party. However, in view of the unprecedented flood situation in some districts of the state and loss of lives in this natural calamity, both these programs to be held on evening of August 14 and the At-home program to be held at Mantralaya premises on August 15 are cancelled.

Chief Minister Fadanvis has extended greetings to all the invitees on the occasion of Indian Independence Day and appealed them to support and cooperate with the government efforts to tide over the difficult situation arisen due to severe floods in the state.
