Maharashtra Govt Sanctions Rs 54.55 Crore for Minority Students’ Scholarships

Pune, 16th February 2025: The Maharashtra government has approved a ₹54.55 crore fund to implement a scholarship scheme aimed at economically weaker and meritorious students from minority communities. The scheme will benefit students pursuing medical, technical, and professional courses, as well as those enrolled in any course after Class 12.
The funds have been sanctioned following a request from the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) and will cover scholarships for students who applied during the academic years 2020-21 to 2024-25. The initiative aims to promote higher education among minority students by providing them with essential financial support.
The Director of the Directorate of Technical Education will oversee the distribution of funds as the controlling officer of the scheme. The primary focus will be on clearing pending scholarship amounts of eligible students, while any remaining funds will be allocated to new beneficiaries in the 2024-25 academic year.
This decision is expected to significantly improve access to higher education for students from minority backgrounds.
