Maharashtra Industry Minister Uday Samant Tours Pune District, Announces Projects Worth Thousands of Crores for Chakan MIDC

Chakan, 22nd May 2025: Maharashtra Industry Minister Uday Samant was on a tour of Pune district today, which included a visit to the rapidly developing Chakan MIDC area. During his visit, he held a meeting with industrialists in the region to discuss and address their longstanding and recurring issues.
Speaking to the media, Samant said, “Discussions have been held to resolve the electricity issues. To address this, works worth Rs 450 crore have been approved, and work orders have already been issued. Additionally, projects worth Rs 650 crore are in the tendering process. In total, development work worth Rs 1,000 crore will be completed.”
Addressing the persistent traffic problems in the area, Samant added, “Rs 4,000 crore has been approved for the Chakan-Shikrapur Road. The government resolution (GR) for this was issued two days ago. Two major roads, Nashik Phata to Khed and Talegaon-Chakan-Shikrapur, have received approval, and tenders have been floated. Work on these will begin by January or February. It has also been decided to provide three cranes to the police administration to manage traffic more efficiently. Furthermore, a survey has been ordered to explore the feasibility of constructing two to three new truck terminals in Chakan.”
Regarding the long-pending demand for a hospital for industrial workers, Samant said, “The industrialists here had requested a dedicated workers’ hospital in Chakan. Eight acres of land were required from MIDC, which was pending. I am issuing the possession letter for that land today. This will pave the way for the establishment of the hospital.”
Speaking on the recent rape case in Chakan, a visibly saddened Samant announced, “It has been decided to install 350 to 400 CCTV cameras in the area for the safety of women.”
Finally, addressing complaints from industrialists about the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) failing to provide basic civic amenities in the Chakan MIDC area, Samant assured that PMRDA’s manpower would be increased in the near future.
