Pune, August 12, 2020: The Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) exam scheduled on September 13, has been postponed. The commission declared that the exam will now be held on September 20.

The MPSC exam was clashing with the date of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) examination for admission into undergraduate programmes of medicine and dental. Therefore, the commission on Wednesday announced that it has decided to push the exam date by seven days.

Earlier, according to the advertisement published by the commission on December 23, 2019, the state service pre-examination 2020 was scheduled to be held on April 5, 2020. However, like other competitive examinations which MPSC too was delayed due to the ongoing coronavirus disease (COVID-19) situation in the country. On June 17, the commission issued the revised dates of the examination stating the exam will be held in September.

Taking a note of the total number of candidates who will appear for the examinations, as well as conducting two important examinations on state level and other on national level will pose difficulty in terms of availability of examination centres and its administrative work. Therefore, weighing all the pros and cons, the commission has shifted the MPSC exam dates to September 20.
