Maharashtra: Now COVID Patients To Be Admitted In Institutional Quarantine Centres As Government Bans Home Isolation

Mumbai, 25th May 2021: Although the number of corona patients is under control in major cities of the state, 18 districts still fall under the red zone where the number of corona patients is high in these districts. Due to this the health department has taken an important decision.

Today, an important meeting on Mucormycosis was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. Wherein Health Minister Rajesh Tope was also present.

“Two suggestions have been issued to the 18 red zone districts with a high positivity rate. One is to shut the home isolation and expand the Covid care centres, the other is to isolate all the patients in the Covid centres. Gram Panchayat has been directed to use 25 percent of the funds available from the 15th Finance Commission for setting up of Covid Care Centres”, said Tope. U

The districts where the positivity rate of COVID19 is high include Pune, Nagpur, Raigad, Buldhana, Kolhapur, Ratnagiri, Sangli, Yavatmal, Amravati, Sindhudurg, Solapur, Akola, Satara, Washim, Beed, Gadchiroli, Ahmednagar and Osmanabad.

‘Asha Swayamsevak’ is known as the backbone of the health department in rural areas. The Health Minister said that Asha volunteers would now be trained in rapid antigen testing and self-diagnosis to help prevent COVID-19 in rural areas. There are around 70,000 Asha volunteers in Maharashtra.

2245 Mucormycosis cases in Maharashtra

 

Tope informed that there are 2245 patients with Mucormycosis in the state. The health department has declared the disease as a notified disease under the Epidemic Act. Thus, it is mandatory to inform the government about it. The central government is in control of the amphotericin drug required for the treatment of Mucormycosis disease.
