Maharashtra: Over 1000 Gram Panchayats Won by BJP-Supported Candidates, Claims Bawankule
Nagpur, 6th November 2023: In the Gram Panchayat elections in the Maharashtra state, BJP and its supported candidates have achieved significant success.
Chandrasekhar Bawankule, the state president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), claimed that over 1000 Gram Panchayats have been won by Sarpanch candidates supported by the BJP, out of a total of 2359 Gram Panchayats in the state. He further stated that the Mahayuti (grand alliance), which includes the BJP, secured victory in more than 1700 Sarpanch seats across the state.
Bawankule also highlighted that around 60 per cent of the Gram Panchayats held by the Maha Vikas Aghadi, a coalition of opposition parties, have been won by candidates supported by the BJP and the Mahayuti. Additionally, the Congress party faced significant setbacks in these elections, with Congress state president Nana Patole experiencing defeat in his village panchayat in the Bhandara district.
The BJP state president attributed this success to the effective implementation of public welfare schemes by both the central government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the state government under Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar. He acknowledged that the BJP and Mahayuti had achieved a more substantial victory than anticipated, reflecting the positive changes experienced by the public due to these government initiatives.
Bawankule, State President of BJP, stated, “The victory of Mahayuti and BJP-supported candidates for the Sarpanch post signifies the trust of villagers in the BJP. The last worker on the booth put up a good fight as the BJP wielded both the wheels of power and organization well. This is his success.”
