Maharashtra: Police personnel over 55 years old will be sent on leave

Mumbai, 8 June 2020: In view of the increasing cases of corona in Maharashtra, the state government has made some important decisions on Sunday. The Maharashtra Home Minister has announced to send police personnel over 55 years on paid leave.
State Home Minister Anil Deshmukh said that around 3000 policemen in the state have been infected by Corona and around 30 have died. In view of this, we have decided that people in the age group of 50-55 will be put on normal duty and police personnel above 55 years of age will be sent on paid leave.
Deshmukh said that there were about 38 thousand prisoners in 60 jails of Maharashtra. Keeping in mind the social distancing in the jail, 9671 prisoners have been released. Now we have decided to send 11 thousand more prisoners on emergency parole. He said that 31 temporary jails have been constructed in 24 districts.
