Maharashtra Police To Recruit Over 12,500 Constables; State Government Issues Notification

Pune, January 22, 2021: The Maharashtra state government on Thursday (21st January) issued a notification granting permission for recruitment of 12,528 police constables.

The adverse impact of Covid-19 and lockdown forced the government to put restrictions on new recruitments in various departments except for public health and medical education departments. On 4th May 2020, the state finance department issued a notification regarding the same. As the situation is reviving gradually, the state government has allowed the home department to fill vacancies of police constables to maintain law and order in the state.

According to data given by the department, overall 12,528 new constables will be recruited by the police units in the states. It includes 5297 vacancies of constables from 2019, 6726 vacancies from 2020, 505 constables for Meera-Bhaindar-Vasai-Virar commissionerate. The recruitment order for remaining posts will be published separately.
