Maharashtra: RT-PCR COVID Test Cost To Be Brought Down To Rs 1200
Pune, August 30, 2020: As many domestic companies have started making test kits, Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope yesterday said that the state government is planning to cap the Coronavirus disease (COVID19) RT-PCR test cost to Rs 1200. The central government has advised bringing down the cost of tests as the cases have increased exponentially. The cost may be brought down to Rs 1200-1500.
The state government has brought down the cost of a test from Rs 2200 to 1900 at present. Maharashtra is the leading state in the country where maximum tests are being conducted to identify COVID positive patients. Out of 40,10,200 laboratory samples, 7,64,281 have been tested positive (19.05%) for COVID-19 until yesterday.
Across Maharashtra, 11,541 people got discharged from hospitals while 16,867 new cases and 328 deaths were reported yesterday. The total number of COVID cases has reached 7,64,281 out of which 5,54,711 people have recovered and 24,103 have died. There are 1,85,131 active cases.
