Pune, 3rd March 2025: The State Directorate of Primary Education has extended the deadline for confirming admissions under the Right to Education (RTE) Act for children selected under the 25% reservation quota. Parents now have until March 10 to finalize their child’s admission.

The directorate is overseeing the centralized online admission process for the 2025-26 academic year under the ‘Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009’ (RTE). This year, 3,05,152 applications were submitted for 1,09,087 available seats across 8,863 schools in Maharashtra.

Address Proof Guidelines for Admission

The education department has issued specific instructions regarding address verification. Parents who do not own a house in the school-selected area can provide alternative documents such as:

Ration card
Driving license
Electricity or telephone bill
Property tax receipt
Voter ID
Passport
Aadhaar card
Passbook from a nationalized bank

“To ensure authenticity, verification officers may conduct physical visits to confirm the residence details provided by parents,” said Sharad Gosavi, Director of Primary Education.

Over Half the Selected Students Yet to Confirm Admission
The first selection list, released in February, included 1,01,967 children. However, as of now, only 47,492 students have secured their admissions. The education department urges parents to complete the process before the deadline to avoid losing their allotted seats.
