Maharashtra : Skill and Entrepreneurship training given to 1.75 lakh youth

Mumbai, Aug 3/8/2019: Approximately 1.75 lakh youth in the state were provided training in skill development and entrepreneurship and 0ver 60,000 youth have secured either a job or self-employment. This training was provided to them under Pramod Mahajan Skill and Entrepreneurship Campaign conducted by State Skill Development Society.

Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Minister Sambhaji Patil-Nilangekar said that from September 2, 2015 steps are being taken to fulfill the objective4 of “Kushal Maharashtra- Rijgaryukta Maharashtra”.Job and self employment opportunities are made available to youth in the age group of 15-45 by providing them skill development training. 11sectors have been identified for skilled manpower demand.

Under the Prime Minister Skill Development Scheme a target to provide skill trainng to 1.5 lakh young men and women till March 2020. So far, over 10000 youth have been trained.

The Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Department has taken certain important decisions like Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Employment Rally, Skill training to young boys and girls, Start Up Yatra/ Start Up Week, “Hirkani Maharashtrachi” scheme for women empowerment, ITI strengthening, training through Maharashtra State Skill Development Society, and providing loans to economically backward entrepreneurs for setting enterprises.
