Maharashtra State Government Declares Public Holiday On September 29 Also

Mumbai, 27th September 2023: In an unprecedented move, the Maharashtra state government has declared Friday, September 29, as a public holiday to manage the crowd and processions for Ganesh Visarjan and Eid-e-Milad. Both festivals fall on the same day, Anant Chaturdashi, tomorrow, Thursday, September 28.

The decision came after a delegation from the All India Khilafat Committee met with Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. The delegation, which included MP Rahul Shewale, MLA Abu Azmi, MLA Raees Khan, and Naseem Khan, requested the holiday to ensure a peaceful atmosphere and effective crowd management.

Chief Minister Shinde has appealed for disciplined and peaceful Ganesh Visarjan processions. He also urged the public to celebrate upcoming festivals like Navratri, Dussehra, and Diwali with unity and devotion. The Chief Minister expressed satisfaction over the police’s efforts to maintain law and order during Ganeshotsav and commended the Ganesh mandals for adhering to the rules.

In line with the state’s clean Maharashtra campaign, the Chief Minister also appealed to Ganesh Mandals to assist in keeping the surroundings clean post-immersion. The campaign aims to make villages and wards garbage-free.

On the occasion of Eid-e-Milad, the Chief Minister extended his wishes, emphasizing that Prophet Muhammad’s life is a message of sacrifice and love. He urged people to take inspiration from it to increase mutual respect and love.
