Pune, 26th October 2021: As petrol and diesel prices have been increasing day by day in Maharashtra, the state transport(ST) is also suffering from economical losses.

As a result, ST had sent a proposal for an increase in the ticket rate to the state government three months ago. The proposal was approved by the government and from today, ST rates across the state has increased by 17 per cent.

The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) has been at a loss for the past year. Employees salaries were not paid on time. One of the reasons the ST administration was at a loss was that ticket prices did not increase as much as diesel prices did. For this, the ST administration had sent a proposal to the state government three months ago to increase the ticket price.

Private bus operators are also likely to announce a hike in fares, after the MSRTC increased ticket rates on all routes. Private cabs and taxis, which operate between Mumbai and Pune are also likely to do the same.
