Pune Police Arrest Two Nigerians For Cheating Woman After Marriage Proposal

Pune, 26th October 2021: Officials from the Cyber Cell of Pune city police have arrested two Nigerians from Greater Noida for duping a woman under the pretext of offering marriage on a matrimonial site.

The accused had taken over Rs 12 lakh from the complainant between June and July 2020 for various reasons. He had made a profile on the matrimonial site pretending to be a groom working abroad.

The arrested persons have been identified as Chidibere Nwosu (36) and Okoro Basil Ifeanyichukwu (41).

After getting a tip-off about the accused, a team under the guidance of DCP (Cyber Crime) Bhagyshree Navtake reached Greater Noida and arrested the accused. After getting their transit remand custody, they were brought to Pune.

Police have appealed to people to avoid befriending people on the matrimonial sites and also avoid financial transactions.
